Connect your own system or website with the Delimenu API

Create an API key to manage your menu from your software, or show your menu on a website built your way.

Besides the dashboard and AI agents, Delimenu has an API for people who code: it lets you manage your menu from your own system (a POS, an inventory, a script) and show your menu on a website or app you build yourself, with your own design.

This article explains how to get access. The full technical documentation, with every endpoint and examples, is at delimenu.co/developers.

Important: everything you do through the API changes your menu for real, exactly as if you did it from the dashboard. There is no draft and no publish button.

Two ways to use it

Show your menu on your own website. Any restaurant's public menu can be read without a key: the same information a diner sees at delimenu.co/your-identifier, as JSON, ready to render however you like. You keep loading and editing the menu in Delimenu; your website only displays it.

Manage the menu from your system. With an API key you can create, edit and delete categories and products, change prices and availability, upload photos, and edit the restaurant details. It is the same an AI agent can do, but from your own program.

Create an API key

  1. Open your restaurant and go to "Settings".
  2. Find the "Developer API" card and press "Create key".
  3. Give it a name that helps you recognise it (for example, "POS system") and choose its permissions: view the menu, or view and edit.
  4. Copy the key when it appears. It is shown only that once: if you lose it, revoke it and create another.

The key belongs to your account, not to one restaurant: it works for every restaurant you have. You can hold up to 10 active keys per account. The API base URL is https://delimenu.co/api/v1.

Revoke a key

  1. Go to "Settings" › "Developer API".
  2. Under "Active keys", press "Revoke" next to the key.

From that moment it stops working, on the very next request. Revoke any key that was shared by mistake or that you no longer use.

Get notified when the menu changes (webhooks)

If your system needs to know about changes (for example, to keep your till or online shop up to date), it does not have to poll the API: register a webhook and Delimenu will notify your system every time a product or category is created, edited or deleted, or the restaurant's details change.

  1. Open your restaurant and go to "Settings".
  2. Find the "Webhooks" card and click "Create webhook".
  3. Enter your system's URL (it must start with https://) and choose the events you want to receive.
  4. Copy the secret when it appears. It is only shown once: your system uses it to check that each notification really comes from Delimenu. If you lose it, click "New secret".
  5. Click "Send test" to check that your system receives the notifications.

Webhooks belong to each restaurant, not to the account: you can have up to 5 per restaurant. If your system does not answer, we retry up to 8 times over about a day. If 20 notifications in a row fail, the webhook switches itself off; check your system and click "Enable". "History" shows the latest deliveries and how your system answered.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an active plan? To manage a restaurant through the API, yes: it only works with an active subscription or free trial, like the dashboard. To show the menu on your website, the restaurant also needs an active plan; otherwise the API answers that the menu is unavailable, like the public page does.

Can I give the key to my developer? Yes, that is what it is for. Create a key just for that person or system, with only the permissions they need, and revoke it when the work is done. Never share a key with edit permission if they only need to read the menu.

Does the key give access to my billing or my account? No. It can only view and edit menus. It cannot manage the subscription, delete the restaurant or sign in to the dashboard.

What format are prices in? The same as on the menu: 12500 is $ 12.500 pesos, 5.99 is US$ 5.99. Never cents.

Do changes show up immediately? Yes. Both on the public menu and when reading through the API, within seconds.
