Customize colors, fonts and styling

Adapt the Classic template to your restaurant's visual identity.

You can adjust how your public menu looks without knowing anything about design: colors, fonts and card styling.

Where

  1. Open your restaurant and click "Settings".
  2. Scroll down to the "Appearance" card.

Today there's one template, "Classic", marked as Active. The others show as "Coming soon".

The preset styles

Above the settings there are eight preset styles: Classic, Coffee shop, Night, Healthy, Ocean, Pizzeria, Elegant and Sweet. Each one is a complete combination of colors, font and styling.

Clicking one fills every field below with its values. Nothing is published yet: adjust whatever you like, then click "Save changes". The preset that matches what the form holds is highlighted; as soon as you edit a field by hand, the highlight goes away.

The colors

There are six, and each controls one specific part:

ColorWhat it controls
Primary colorButtons, accents and the selected category
Text on primary colorText that sits on top of the primary color
Page backgroundThe general menu background
Card backgroundThe background of each product card
Text colorProduct names and main text
Secondary textDescriptions and supporting text

Each color is picked from a suggested palette, a hex code, a hue slider, or the "Random color" button if you want to explore.

Important: check contrast before saving. Your menu is read on a phone, at a table that may be dimly lit. The two critical pairings are Text color on Card background, and Text on primary color on Primary color. If you have to squint at your own screen, your customer won't read it.

The font

Under Font you get the full Google Fonts catalogue, with a search box and filters for Sans Serif, Serif, Display, Handwriting and Monospace. The default is "Default (Geist)".

Below it there's a preview using your menu's real text.

Tip: Display and Handwriting fonts look great on a heading and terrible on a list of thirty dishes. If you pick one, check it on the longest section of your menu.

The styling

Saving and undoing

  • "Save changes" applies everything to your public menu immediately.
  • "Reset to default values" returns everything to the Classic template's factory state. It asks for confirmation, and it can't be undone.

FAQ

Does dark mode in my dashboard change what my customers see? No. The dashboard's light/dark mode is just for you while you work. The public menu is unaffected.

I changed the colors and my customers see the old ones. Reload the page on their device. Changes publish automatically, but their browser may hold the previous version.

Can I have different colors per restaurant? Yes. Appearance is configured per restaurant.
